Prayer, Praise, and the Bible
There is a lot of information out there to process right now. It's definitely a season where a person could reach late afternoon, sit down and heave a huge sigh as they shake their head in wonder. It would be really easy for a small town midwestern girl from the Great Plains to get up, go about her day, go to bed and do it all over again and again and again just like she has always done too.
I've been mulling this phenomenon of balance over in my mind quite a bit during the past several years. How is it even possible for everything to be radically different yet exactly the same, at the same time? How indeed.
Our days are not "business as usual ", yet they are. As my beloved would say, "What in the Billy Blicksen is going on around here?" Yes, what is going on? Everything. Everything is going on, and I am traveling along with it. Nothing is the same, except that it is.
Someday, sometime, somewhere there will be reminiscing done about this era. What will we say? Besides the age old quote heard more and more about how It was the worst of times. It was the best of times.
Maybe I'm wondering when I ought to be doing something, anything. Then again, maybe pondering is an underutilized form of processing that will serve me well and assist in the prioritization of daily living in these days of amazing changes. For changes there are and amazing they be.
No matter what, come what may, always and forever there is God, and He changes not. Of that I am sure. So, blow you winds of change blow! Sweep o'er the sands of time. God is on His throne. I am His, and He is mine.
More often than not these days the words of various childhood hymns answer the wondering thoughts as I pray. Here's what I hear playing in my heart today:
Blessed Assurance
Jesus is mine
Oh what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation
Purchase of God
Born of His Spirit
Washed in His blood
This is my story
This is my song
Praising my Savior
All the day long
This is my story
This is my song
Praising my Savior
All the day long
In the name of the One Who is Faithful and True,
Shalom
