Visiting With Others

Happy Summer Day! How have you been this week? The calendar says we still have over a month of summer days left, but the weather? the plants? the animals? They are saying we're closer to Autumn than not. Since only God knows for sure, I think we'll just celebrate every summer day. So...Happy Summer Day!

There are three links below. Three links to three posts from three different blogs and all three go together perfectly, or at least they did to me this morning:) Sometimes God gives us words to share and sometimes God share words He gives through others. Today we're sharing His life-giving words shared by others. A quick highlight, right click followed by a click on the "go to..." link will get us all where we need to go visit our brothers and sisters this morning. Knowing that each of us has a different amount of time for visiting, we can all return to our individual homes from there.

Love you! Have a super great blessed weekend in Jesus!

Hey There! So, usually, I slip and/or slide in here with a Whew! I made it sort of feeling, but today. Today? Today I boldly walked over to our bench and sat down. Why? Because I wanted to. I wanted to gather at our bench and get together and talk about everything and/or nothing just because. Maybe it's several days of Victorious Man of God cutting four teeth at the same time. Perhaps it has something to do with two previous days' melting heat. Whatever the reason, it was time for a visit. So here I am. Really glad you are here. It wouldn't be nearly as much fun talking to myself.

Realized that it is July and that Christmas is coming. Yes, Christmas in July. I may not begin any actual shopping, but the idea wheels definitely start turning. What's on your Christmas radar this year? For me, I want aprons. Yes, aprons in the plural form. I have four all purpose aprons, three green, one red, and all four of them are "biting the dust", so to speak. So, why not add them to my Christmas list? They are practical enough to be used but still pretty enough to feel like a fun gift. Right? You do know what I'm talking about? The practical yet still a gift dilemna? Hmmm, maybe your loved ones don't groan when you put practical items on your Christmas list. Well, either way, I think an apron similar to the picture I found below would be just perfect for me to wear in my kitchen, one like this one and a few others that are also cute and washable that is. *cough, cough, hint, hint, smile* Oh, and if I could look that good in it by Christmas that would be a gift in and of itself:)

And since Christmas isn't only about gifts. Well, truthfully, it isn't about gifts at all. It is about THE GIFT of Jesus. And since it IS about celebrating Jesus, and since our celebrations almost always contain food, wouldn't this cheese ball made to look like pinecones look absolutely perfect sitting amongst our Christmas goodies? It would be a delightful addition to any holiday gathering or event. I've been planning on making this for several years. Maybe this is the year I will actually get it done.

And look at the sweet little wreaths in the corners of these windows!!! This is another idea picture that has been waiting for me to make it happen. Every year I say I'm going to make or find some darling little wreaths and beautiful ribbon and well, I think this would be the perfect Christmas to do so. Don't you? Of course my wreaths will be made of different greenery than those in the idea picture, but that's ok. It's only an idea picture, not a detailed plan.

So what ideas do you have stashed away? Are there any pictures torn from magazines, saved to your computer, or pinned on Pinterest boards that wait to be used? Or are you like me? For every idea saved to the computer or pinned there are at least half a dozen variations stashed away in the recesses of your mind?

Remember how I said that today I boldly walked over to our bench and sat down? Well, I'm now flying out of here in crazy wild dash. Do you have any idea how quickly an almost 17-month-old can get in his big sister's room, climb onto her desk and empty her tissue box? That's the crazy part! The wild part is figuring out how to keep him from doing it a second, third, fourth, fifth...time.

Waving good-bye and throwing a quick, but loving, squeeze!

P.S. - All the above pictures are from Google Images and lil' bro. is already back in sister's room! I'm off!

A Prairie Garden

Good Afternoon! Oh my, it seems as if it has been so long since we got together! Ooooooh! I have to have a hug! I know it really hasn't been as long as it seems. The past week or so has been so full it truly feels like ages since we got together. This afternoon is the perfect time for gathering too. The children have been acting like weather is coming all day long. I was going to work upstairs on some sewing but a visit will be so much better. Thank you for coming over!

For a couple of years I have been collecting seeds from various wildflowers with the intention of eventually creating a cottage style garden using native wildflowers with similar appearance to those found in traditional cottage gardens. The idea came to me after a number of unsuccessful attempts at growing cottage style plants purchased from the nursery. Giving up on my cottage garden never crossed my mind, but I did spend many hours wondering how I could get my favorite cottage garden plants to grow in my extremely wind yard.

One day while driving through the pasture with My Beloved the thought of how much a certain wildflower resembled a larkspur plant I had unsuccessfully planted more than once crossed my mind. My thoughts rapidly began to gather at this point. Before the drive through the cattle was over, the idea of using seed gathered from wildflowers instead of purchased plants from the nursery took root.

Being a family of romantics at heart, noticing, gathering, and identifying wildflowers has not been a chore but delightful fun. There are still a few flowers yet to be identified. but we have a very good start. Just the names of the wildflowers I hope to use in my future garden get me excited. Prairie larkspur, wild begonia, bush morning glory, asters, coneflowers, liatris/blazing star, beebalm, milkweed, yarrow, hoary vervain verbena, penstemon, wild roses, and white poppies will all be joined with one final attempt at establishing hollyhocks. I know those things grow in this area. I just have to figure out a location in my yard they will grow. My tiger lilies will love the company and some sweet little Johnny jump ups may also show up along the outside border. You just never know who will join the party. Of course no flower garden of mine will ever be complete without at least a few iris. Also...along the north side of the house, in a sweet little shady spot, some lily of the valley ought to move in. Don't you think?

I think the little wildflower garden that has gotten started down by the lake ought to enjoy having an intentionally planned neighbor. Don't you? The sweet morsels of gossip the bees and butterflies will share as they flit between gardens will surely cement the relationships between all plants involved. Just think of the humming and buzzing that will occur! I'm smiling big; aren't you? Oh! Did I tell you? Some cardinals have made themselves at home in the cedar trees! I am so excited!!! Cardinals! How I have missed having their red shine out.

It might end up being a bit like the salad plot down in my new veggie garden this year, a little bit of this and that all tossed into the ground together in one big happy salad growing square. Planning is well and fine. As a matter of fact, it is absolutely necessary in many areas. However, if a person is not naturally inclined towards plotting every little detail down the nth degree, perhaps they ought to occasionally go with the natural bent God put in them and plan to be unplanned - in some things - like flower gardens and salad greens. Finances are of course NOT one of the areas a person will want to be unplanned in. But flowers...and salad greens...these are delightful when purposely random.

Hmmm? Yes, talking about flowers and bees does make me think of honey. Uh huh, honey makes me think of tea and scones. Oh, scones definitely makes me think of devonshire cream and lemon curd, strawberry preserves too. Speaking of preserves, Not of This World has already been at the jelly making this summer. Mulberry jelly is absolutely beautiful in color! It's ever so yummy too! Maybe I can talk her into coming over for one of our visits to share her jelly recipes. Wouldn't that be fun?

Our time at the bench has been delightful this afternoon dear friend. Thank you so much for coming over. Here, take a jar of jelly with you when you go. It will be lovely on biscuits with supper. I'm going to go see if I can't whip out at least one sundress for Giggles before supper fixing time. And yes, we're definitely having biscuits with jelly on them! Thanks again for coming! Come again soon! Love you!

Whew! This Was Work!

Whew! I've been cleaning house here at Abundance House blog, and boy did it need tidying up! It's still not completely spic and span. Didn't have time for a complete stripping of the beds and washing of the walls, but I did get some stray cobwebs dusted and out of place posts put back in order.

There is still so much tidying and cleaning to do on this blog that it may take me most of the month to get it all done, maybe even longer than that. I know this will cut in on our visits, but the quality of our future times together will be so much better that the time apart is worth the cost. I'll drop in for quick "hey!" every chance I get.

While you are waiting for me to get everything cleaned up around here please feel free to visit the archives. I was amazed at how much we have talked about over the past four, almost five, years. Who knew we've been chatting away for so long? We've had some really good visits. Thank you for stopping in! See you as soon as the tidying is done!

Abundantly Blessed @ Abundance House

P.S. - Just in case I wasn't very clear with this post. The housecleaning today's visit refers to isn't an actual housecleaning. It is about getting this blog tidied up and caught up to date by eliminating old posts that are no longer relevant and things of that nature. Thank You for your patience.

No Fear of the Storms

Hi! Glad you could slip out and come back to our bench! There's a storm brewing for sure, but with our dear friends and the hot tea in this thermos, we can still gather together with God and share. If you read Friday's Fourth of July post, our conversation today will be a continuation from then. God shared a word with us on Friday. Today's visit may not be directly tied in with that word, but it was sparked by its reading.

That thunder rumbling around outside makes me think of the rumblings going on in the world today. There are lots of things, people, situations rumbling around making grown people like scared children in a thunderstorm and rightly so. For those who don't have a relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ, this is perfectly understandable. For those God Followers everywhere who DO have a personal relationship through Jesus life should be different.

When a child and even up until young womanhood, I was afraid of thunderstorms. It was a learned response from childhood. Storms are scary. They make bad things happen. Not long after being married I realized that my husband didn't share my fear. In fact, quite the opposite was true. My Beloved LOVES thunderstorms. Oh my. This revelation of him was startling to this scared girl. My Beloved was as startled by my fear as I was of his thrill. Both of us wondered how on earth...could anyone...be this scared...find this thrilling? After over 20 years of intimate communion with My Beloved thunderstorms are no longer something I fear. Thanks to God's unconditional love lavished on me through both He and My Beloved, thunderstorms have become truly thrilling. Oh, not in a lets get pumped up on adrenaline thrill chasing sort of  way, but a "Look at the awesomeness of the God Who has created such wondrous majesty!" awe and wonder viewpoint.

Another weapon that rid me of this fear was knowledge. God said in Hosea 4:6 that His people perish for lack of knowledge. Well, my fear of storms may not have been causing me to perish, but it wasns't bringing any life to me either. Learning truths such as the fact that lightning is essential to the health of soil because it adds nitrogen to it when it strikes and that thunder is just loud chased fear out as my fascination with the amazing handiwork of God and His creation grew louder than the voices of those unrealistic fears that had taunted me for years. Listening to My Beloved talk about storms based on the specific formations of clouds gathering in the sky and air currents, fronts, temperature of various air bodies meeting and clashing, it was all so interesting that fear became like the forgotten item in the shed out back that got crowded out of the house due to lack of use. Ignorance had kept me locked up in chains. Knowledge helped me on the way to being free. God, through Jesus, set me free but He used knowledge to shed light on the truth so that I could see it more clearly. At least that's how it seems to me.

Once more, it's time for dinner, lunch to some of you. Maybe you can share your thoughts in a comment or email. Comments can be left below, and emails can be sent to amothersrewards@gmail.com. Here's a hug! Always know I am praying for you! I love you friend!

God Speaks To Us Still

Good Morning! Hot Tea? It's definitely brisk out there! Brrr! Even though I have been cutting down my use of sugar, I caved in and used a bit of brown sugar in my tea earlier. It is just that sort of a cool morning for just that sort of tea. Would you like some in yours? Some creamy whole milk too? Uhmmm, now that's a flavor to savor.

While sorting through an older notebook this morning some folded papers fell out. Wondering what they were I opened them up and read. Oh my. On the papers was a word God gave me who knows how long ago, years for sure. My spirit immediately let me know that those papers falling out wasn't an accident. I was supposed to read them; not only read them but share them. With you.

The following word contains references to many scripture verses. Of course that is one of the ways to test a word to determine whether or not it truly came from God, does it line up with His Word? Also, does it line up with His character? As I read through the Word knowing it was to become part of our visit this morning I immediately began thinking of locating the references for the scripture verses to include at the bottom of the post. But no, the impression was very strong that I was NOT to include the references, but rather, that you the readers are to look them up for yourselves. That you are to test this word and find out personally, for yourselves, whether it is sound and true. Please, please do check and test this word. Please do make certain that it does indeed line up straight and true with the Holy Word of God, the Bible. No matter what word you are reading, no matter who it is from, please always test it and prove it true. It is vitally important to maintain such disciplines for they prevent deception from sneaking in and working its evil schemes.

God would say to His children:

Enough! Quit living as the world does. I have works prepared for you to do in My name.Works that require you to be living as true followers of Me. Times are hard and new. What is that to Me and Mine? Didn't I tell you there would be perilous times in My Word? Didn't I prepare you for this very hour? I AM who I say I AM. I do what I say I do. If I say I keep and protect My own dearly loved children then I keep and protect my dearly beloved children. I said I would never leave or forsake you. I won't. I said I came to seek and save the lost. I came. I said I would clothe and feed you. I will. Who are you to say with your mouth that you love and serve Me while harboring fear and mistrust in your heart? Did I say that I see? Did I tell you that you are precious and that I care for you? Yes, I have given you everything for life and godliness. There is nothing missing or broken in Me or My provision. Do not doubt My Word. Cease from strife and discontent. Rest. in Me. My burden is easy and My yoke is light. Learn of Me. I will give you rest. The righteous have never been forsaken. Their seed never begs bread. This is bigger than you. It is not about you but about Me, all about Me.
I Am the Way
I Am the Truth
and I Am the Life
"He that believeth in Me though he were dead yet shall he live"
Believe Me. Believe what I have spoken. Believe what I have spoken in My Word. My Words are true. They are real and powerful. With them the enemy is defeated. Everything up until now has been mere preparation for such a time as now, a dress rehearsal, if you will. Go to My Word. Immerse yourself in its truths. Hide them in your heart that you don't sin against Me. We are almost there dear children. The time of waiting is almost done. The time is soon. The season is now when the Son of Man shall come. Do not be anxious. Do not be troubled. Believe. Believe. I AM He. I AM He, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world. I AM that I AM.

At this point on the papers I asked God the question of what do I tell them O Lord? Here is the answer that was written for what I felt He impressed upon my spirit:

Tell them of Me, of My power to forgive.
Tell them of how I want them free, free from the bondage of sin, free to see and feel and know truth. The complete truth that I am good and I AM God. There is none else beside Me.
Don't hesitate. Do not fear. Do not fear what man can do to you. For I Am greater than man. I AM that I AM and I have spoken peace, no lack, nothing missing to you into your life. Heed My words and LIVE that I may LIVE through you to the hurting all around.
Life, I have given Life and that more abundantly. Do not doubt Me or My Words. I have said I healed. You are healed. I made you whole. You are whole. Now walk in it, the wholeness I have given you. It is yours to use for My glory. Use it for Me to reach them, the lost and dying. Never waiver. Never fear. I AM stronger. I AM mightier. I AM He, the First, the Last, the Beginning and the End. I AM. Hallelujah!

It seems almost irreverent to end our visit on such a common note as "I really need to get some dinner on", but isn't that often the way God works? Doesn't He seem to enjoy placing the profound smack dab in the ordinary and using them both? Since it is almost time for lunch, why don't we just pick up here when we meet back here at our bench tomorrow? Does that work for you? Good! I'm going to run home and get the soups on for dinner. Love you friend! Aren't you thankful God still speaks to His children today? Me too!

See you tomorrow!

Gathering Together With Jesus

Gathering together at our "bench" is such a pleasure! But there is a gathering together that is even greater and more comforting and encouraging than us meeting together in Jesus. It is each of us meeting together with Him privately first. The following article from the Elijah List website is one of rich Biblical truths supported with abundant scripture references. I have been having a wonderful time with my Bible and notebook this morning as I have devoured the article. I pray that it will be a refreshing breath of Life to you as well, dear friend. Here is the link we can hop on over with:  http://elijahlist.com/words/display_word.html?ID=13616

Date Night

Hey There! It's summer! Summer at our home means family comes in for supper later than during the winter and evenings together are shorter as a result. The light stays longer each day but at our house longer light means more hours to work and more hours working mean less time hanging out. Thankfully the time we do spend together is usually high in quality as it is spent outside on the front porch sitting with glasses of water and/or iced tea visiting. Most are too tired to do anything besides sit and visit. It's a good kind of tired, the kind that comes from honest labor. No one is complaining. It's just the melody of summer at our house.

Summer is not only the season of evenings spent sitting in the cool of the evening listening to the conversations of loved ones accompanied by frogs, insects, and night birds. Summer is also the time of year school is not officially in session. It's a season of the gentle learning of the life lessons that rhythmically run through our days. Summer is the time of year I wait for all year long. No cold seeps in. The only ice to be found is in my glass or the ice cream maker. Water runs on the lawn, around the trees, to the garden plants, splashes squealing children, and fills water balloons. Sometimes, when it is really hot, it runs on top of the roof cooling the inside of the house.

Those summer days when I wake up and can smell the heat. Ahhhhh, I love even those. As much as I love the long dark evenings of winter with their cozy fires in the woodstove, they can't begin to compare to the warmth of summer's evenings with freshly showered bare feet, casual clothes, and night birds calling all around. It's the romance, the romance of summer. Summer evenings are truly romantic. They make me relax form the inside out. Late last night Victorious Man of God and I sat on the front porch while everyone else slept inside. Lightning flashed all around, the breeze became a gust that grew stronger and stronger, and still we sat together silently rocking soaking in the romance of the night. The kittens were hazy blurs of black that shot by now and then in pursuit of something only the night and kittens can see. I might not have been sitting with My Beloved, but it was still romantic. It was a wild type of romance with lightning and wind and a cool that inside the house did not contain.

Not every summer evening can be spent outside. Some are just too windy. When one of those nights comes, the ones where the wind blows a gale force making conversation impossible, those where the television satellite doesn't work perfectly. Those are the nights perfect for an at home movie date night. Here is a link to an article on Dating Divas website that contains some super fun ideas for Movie Date Nights: Dating Divas website. Psssst! Just in case I haven't already told you, Dating Divas is my new favoritest website. There are so many fun fun fun ideas for date nights there! If you haven't visited them, you really want to. Truly you do.

This time spent with you has been such a lovely visit! I can't deny it any longer though, it's time to get back up and finish the day's work. Another thing I love about summer, the food! Summer food is simple food, and I love simple! Hamburgers on the grill tonight with a first ever attempt at grilled fries on the side. We will see how those turn out. It will be a learning experience, if nothing else. Thinking I will parboil the potatoes a few minutes before putting on the grill so that they aren't beautifully perfect on the outside and crunchy raw inside. There are two little tomatoes sitting on my kitchen counter too. They are waiting to shine on top of my burger. Tomorrow? Tomorrow might find me stitching up a few little pairs of shorts and a play dress/skirt or two for some growing children. That's another favorite of summer, simple play clothes.

Thank you for coming by! Hope the kittens didn't pester you too much. They love to play. Wish you could have seen them chasing the red dot of the laser pointer around last night. Hilarious! Just when we almost finished laughing at the kittens, 16 month-old Victorious Man of God started trying to hit the pointer's red dot with a fly swatter! Oh my. So many memories being made around here. I love it. I truly do. Have a hug! See you later! Can't wait to hear about your summer loves! If you can't come for a visit, go ahead and drop me a note in my email box! It's amothersrewards@gmail.com. Or, if it works better for you, a comment is great too. There is a button below. Love you friend! Thanks for meeting me at our "bench".  Bye!

Fourth of July is Coming!

I almost can't wait! The Fourth of July will be here in two days! Are you ready? We are getting that way. We love the Fourth of July!!! It is America's birthday, and we love to celebrate it BIG. Well, big to us.

Whenever I think about the men and women who fought and died to gain America's freedom, I can't help but think of Jesus fighting evil, dying as the sacrifice, and rising again to provide freedom for all mankind.

Oh, dear sweet Jesus, thank You. Thank You for paying the price to set me free from the curse of the law or sin and death. Thank You for the healing provided through Your pain. Thank You Jesus. Thank You. Over and over and over again I thank You.

When reading the Bible sometimes I like to substitute the meaning of words for the actual word(s). For instance, 1 John 4:7,8 tells us that God is love. Using that truth, sometimes I will substitute the word God with the word love, just to provide a new look, a more thorough understanding. That makes John 3:16 read "For Love so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Let's do another one with that substitution. Let's do Colossians 1:9,10,12 "For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of Love] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things -- That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of Love [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition]. vs. 12 Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the sants (Love's holy people) in the Light."

Don't you think that adds depth and a fuller understanding? Let's do another switch out. We'll switch out both God for love and the word Christ for its meaning of the Anointed One and His anointing. The word Christ does have a meaning of its own. I heard a minister say once that "It isn't just Jesus' last name." Philippians 4:13 reads like this "I have strength for all things in the Anointed One and His anointing Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in the Anointed One and His anointing's sufficiency]. " Isn't this fun? Verse 7 of chapter 4 says this "And Love's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through The Anointed One and His Anointing, and so fearing nothing from Love and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in The Anointed One and His Anointing Jesus."

Have to warn you that this can be almost addicting. Once I get started I don't want to stop. I look through all of my favorite verses first then just start going through others as I come to them. On and on and on. It's a super fun way to study and gain further revelation along with a more thorough understanding. It's like having a party with the Bible!

Party with the Bible? Yessirree, the best kind of party there is! Best thing is it won't wear a person out like earthly parties do. As fun as they are, earthly parties are tiring, especially for 16 month old little men like the soaking wet, swimsuit and sandal clad one that just crawled up on a bar stool and threw himself in my arms. We're both wet now! Wet and laughing! I may be wrong, but I'm guessing he is ready for his afternoon nap. Have fun on the Fourth of July, if I don't see you before then, and go ahead, have a party with God and your Bible. Look up the meaning(s) of words and do some switcheroos of your own. I would love to hear which ones you do! Now to go get this little man out of the wet and into his bed.

God Bless America!!! In Jesus' name,
Abundantly Blessed

Being Reasonable

Hey There! Boy, am I glad to see you! I was just wishing you would stop in. I've got something to share. Remember me asking you to hold me accountable about being healthy Trim Healthy Mama style? Well, after reading more reviews than I probably should have taken time to and waiting for the peace that acts as umpire over our decisions, I have come to the conclusion that I am aiming for healthy and that following Trim Healthy Mama (THM) to the tee may not be a reasonable plan for my family and I.

After trying a number of recipes I was concerned that only one of them really tasted good, but I just kept thinking that maybe I did something "wrong" when preparing them. I also wasn't that crazy about using Stevia. I know it is an herb but it leaves a bitter aftertaste. So...yes, I am glad, glad, glad to have the book. No, I am not following it exactly perxactly. Just thought I should let you know since you are holding me accountable and all.

That being said, I still recommend checking out the Trim Healthy mama recipe boards on Pinterest. There are some recipes there created by other women that are truly delicious looking, like that tomato cucumber salad we were talking about the other day. I also think that a moderate use of sweeteners such as honey and molasses are healthy. They certainly taste better than Stevia!

Before we head out to wash the front of our house I just wanted to "check in" and let you know what's up in the being healthy realm around here. The "plan" that brings peace is for me to enjoy all foods that God has made in reasonable amounts to optimally fuel the temple of Holy Spirit, my body. Knowing that God has designed the human body to function perfectly and that He has provided everything I need I believe this includes an inner knowing of what my body needs when. Therefore, I am committing my body as a living sacrifice and allowing God the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and teach me truly healthy eating and living.

Now, where is that bucket at? The four youngest children and I can't have a water fight until we've gotten our chores done, and I want a water fight:) Want to join us? Thought so! Are you going to use a bucket or water balloons for the big splash? Yes, I've got some empty ice cream buckets. You're right, they do work perfectly. Oh my. Look at Victorious Man of God sitting over there on the couch so cute. He's just sitting there like a big man watching his big brother Mighty Man of God run around looking for Horsegirl. Wonder if that slightly amused expression is for brother or something else? Whatever. We'd better get busy so we can have some fun in the water later!
