Through the Blogging Years

Every once in a while it feels good to sit down, pull out the pictures, and look through our memories. Remembering who we are, what we've done, who we have seen, where we were can also help us remember where we're going. We can get so muddled down in the day to day that the big picture gets a little blurred and fuzzy if we don't stop and remember.

Sometimes we need reminders so we don't wander off of the path and get eaten by a big bad wolf like Little Red Riding Hood did in the childhood story. Other times an image sparks the fire of an inner passion long forgotten. Usually though we have simply become tired and weary and need the refreshing joy remembering happy times can bring.

Would you care to join me for a trip down the memory lane of our blogging years? I'd be honored if you would. Oh yes, before I forget, if any of the pictures catch your interest, the posts containing these and more money-saving ideas and recipes can all be found in the archives. Thank you for all of your faithful years reading! Do you have your cup of tea? I'll grab the photo album. Here's the first page:

Our years together have always included a hot cup of tea.

Remember when that homemade pumpkin pie began with cooking these beautiful pumpkins - after they had decorated our home, of course!

My daughter, Not of This World, has graced the blog with beauty found in pictures such as this. I would say the cherries are my favorite, but in truth, all of her pictures are.

Growing our own basil and repurposing glass pop bottles to hold liquid dish soap, two of our favorite ways to both save money and beautify. My picture doesn't really show the beauty side though. It's taken from a terrible angle. I must have been in a hurry. There's a reason Not of This World took most of the pictures!

Look! Carrots fresh from the garden! They were SO beautiful and delicious!

The Shadow of the Spurs, it must have been branding time.

Another cup of tea

Growing celery at home from the bottom of a store-bought bunch, saved more money. It was fun too!

We made practically instant art for a surprise makeover of Miss Mustard Seed's bedroom from items we already had on hand. These were a lot of fun to make and turned out better than I thought they might.

Grass growing in a pretty container created an inexpensive decoration for spring. It is so clean and fresh looking!

School time in the fall

Lining cabinet shelves with pretty new paper made the worn look new.

Sometimes we drink coffee.

Homemade breadsticks were a perfect birthday meal with the soups cooking in the crockpots.

Freshly cut wood makes a warm fire.

Storm clouds remind us we have a shelter in the storm; His name is Jesus.

Starting garden seeds at home saves big.

Pumpkins and sharpie markers made fun fall decor. We should do this again - soon.

Dimestore eggs in a nest sing new life and spring are near. I forgot how much I like this!

Ribbons and tulle create easy, inexpensive birthday decorations when both time and the budget are low.

Plastic army men and camouflaged ribbon on a store-bought cake made a birthday boy smile.

Oreo truffles said Happy Birthday on her special day.

Individual sponge cakes and a round chocolate cake made the birthday girl's favorite flower.

An adorable gift for a new baby came together using scraps of denim and flannel. This was one of the favorite gifts I ever made.

Dried wildflowers and hand-me-down frames glued to scrapbook paper resulted in lovely art. I used these until the flowers faded and fell apart.

Little Miss Giggles spent many hours playing at this former nightstand turned play sink and stove.

Who knew baking soda, flour and water could be combined to make beautiful winter decor? The dough was really delicate to work with. It definitely is NOT a project for small children.

An inexpensive red berry garland provided loads of berry sprigs for decorating when divided. Cutting all of the sprigs off the garland almost seemed wrong but was so much fun all at the same time!

Salvaged ice skates are the perfect winter companion for more of the red berries and another dough snowflake. I hang these out almost every winter. They are some of my favorite wintertime decorations.

That's the last picture. Thanks for looking through the album with me. It's much better remembering together. Thank you also for being a faithful reader throughout my years of blogging. What an encouragement you are! May you be blessed and filled to overflowing with the Love of God as He leads you into a new year. May His loving presence surround you, and may you know He is ever near.
