Don't Know How? Learn

Learn. It's time to learn. I hear it so clearly inside: now is the time to learn.

This is not the time to say I always wished I knew how to__________

This is the time to get a book, watch a video, gather supplies, and learn.

Whatever the thing is we don't know, we need to learn it.

We need to know how to study effectively.

We need to know how to learn well.

We need to know the Bible.

We all need to know history - true history.

We all need to know how to grow food and preserve it.

We all need to know how to cook food.

We need to know how to maintain and care for belongings both large and small.

We need to learn alternative methods for completing necessary daily tasks.

These are the thoughts that have been showing up a lot in the past few months. When these thoughts come, there is an urgency that accompanies them. Not desperation or panic, it is a calm, controlled urgency that would imply the need to learn is not only great but immediate. Whether learning practical skills such as gardening, natural wellness, cooking skills, or learning the Bible and the truth of history, learning is definitely important in the current season. As I said, there is a great urgency that accompanies these thoughts.

I believe the urgency I am sensing comes from God. I feel He is preparing us to care for ourselves and others more thoroughly and efficiently. The Word of God tells us that we are called to be imitators of God. It also says we are to be a light in a dark land. It isn't being a fear monger or gloomy Gus to recognize the usual ways of "doing business" may not always be available to us. Groceries and clothing stores may not always be available. There will still be a need for food and clothing. Do we know how to take care of these needs if our usual means are no longer an option?

Learning practical skills and increasing our knowledge of truth isn't ever going to be wasted. Possessing knowledge we don't use is better than needing knowledge we don't possess. We are to be God's ministers. We cannot minister if we don't know what we're doing. We can't teach if we don't know the truth. We can't feed the hungry if we don't know how to grow and prepare food. We can't clothe the naked without clothing. We can't stand on scriptural promises we don't know. Neither can we expect someone who does know how to take care of all the needs while we do nothing, especially when we can learn.

We can learn. All of us can learn - something. I can't learn everything, neither can you, but each of us can learn something. We can learn truth, skills, and everything, together. Then together we can take care of others. Because it's so very true: we're better together. Learn. It's time to learn.
